25 Labour MPs sign statement against Israel’s West Bank annexation

London (QNN)- The socialist Campaign Group of Labour MPs published a statement, rejecting the Israeli annexation plans and calling on the British government to impose sanction on the occupation state if it goes ahead with its annexation plans.
“Now is the time for the whole Labour movement to speak up for Palestine.
We must stand firmly in opposition to the new Israeli Government’s plans for further illegal annexation of occupied Palestinian land”, tweeted the former leader of the Labour Party, Jermy Corbyn, along with a copy of the statement.

The statement stated that the British government “should make clear for Israel now that any annexation of the occupied Palestinian plan would lead to sanctions.”
The group stressed that the party’s support for Palestine has to be real. It added that the annexation, which will be applied upon Trump’s peace plan, is a one-sided attempt to impose an unjust outcome destroying core Palestinian rights.
“We stand firmly against such an act of aggression, as part of the growing international chorus of voices calling for effective international measures to stop any annexation.”
The statement comes a few days after the sacking of shadow education minister Rebecca Long-Bailey after she retweeted an interview with actor and constituent Maxine Peake in which she linked the police killing of George Floyd to training received by US police from the “Israeli secret services”.
Starmer’s spokesperson claimed that the article “contained an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory”.
