206 Palestinians died in Israeli prisons since 1967
Ramallah (QNN)- 206 Palestinian prisoners died in the Israeli jails since 1967 until this year, 71 of whom died under torture, according to the Palestinian Society Prisoner’s Club.
Chief of studies and research in the Palestinian Society Prisoners’s Club, Naser Damaj, revealed in a report on Sunday that the Israeli prisons administration follows a policy of willful murder against Palestinian prisoners. 51 prisoners died of medical negligence, 74 died of beating and individual and massive repression inside the cells, while 10 others were shot with live bullets.
Special repression units, whose members use firearms, teaser guns, batons, shields, tear gas grenades, and Malinois dogs, are usually used to repress unarmed Palestinian prisoners. Soldiers of such units deliberately cause injuries to the prisoners as a way of physical and psychological abuse.
The Israeli soldiers deliberately vandalize the Prisoners’ properties and offend their religious symbols. They also force them to undergo strip search and bark and walk on four like dogs. All of those practices are usually filmed to psychologically hurt the prisoners.
Amnesty International considered such practices similar to rape, which is practiced by criminal gangs in Africa against victims, pushing them to escape or committing suicide.
Similar practices were used against children in HaSharon prison in 2017 to threaten them later of publishing their photos if they do not cooperate with the Israeli authorities, said Damaj.
