1,873 Lebanese killed in Israeli assaults since October 8
Beirut (Quds News Network)- Lebanon’s Disaster Risk Management Unit has announced that 1,873 people have been killed and 9,134 wounded as a result of Israeli attacks in the country since October 8, 2023.
“The number of displaced persons from areas exposed to Israeli aggression has exceeded one million, including 155,600 registered in shelters,” it said in its report.
Last week, Israel stepped up a bombing campaign with a flurry of aerial attacks in the country, including one on Friday that killed Hezbollah’s longtime leader Hassan Nasrallah. Over just the past week, up to a million Lebanese have had to flee their homes and communities, seeking shelter in schools, camps and on the streets.
Late Monday night, Israel launched what it has described as “limited, localized, and targeted” ground invasion of southern Lebanon, marking an escalation in its continuing offensive.
