15 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes on two school-turned shelters in Gaza

Gaza (Quds News Network)- 15 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes targeting two schools sheltering displaced people in eastern Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip on Thursday.

According to Gaza’s Civil Defence, at least seven were killed in a strike on al-Zahraa School and five in Abdel Fattah Hamoud School.

At least 30 people were injured, and a number of people are missing.

Earlier this month, the United Nations said more than 86 percent of Gaza has already been impacted by Israel’s so-called evacuation orders, with most people asked to live in small “safe zones” that have also repeatedly come under Israeli attacks.

The United Nations Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said this week “it is horrified by the unfolding pattern of Israeli strikes on schools in Gaza, killing internally displaced Palestinians seeking shelter there.”

OHCHR explained in a statement that “strikes on at least 17 schools just in the last month reportedly killed at least 163 Palestinians, including children and women.”

The UN Human Rights Office added: “In the span of the past eight days, at least seven schools were targeted. All of which were sheltering the displaced, while Khadija School was also used as a field hospital at the same time.”
