118 journalists killed by Israel in Gaza since the beginning of the war

Gaza (Quds News Network) – Yazen Al-Zuwaidi, a photojournalist for the Al-Ghad News Channel, was killed yesterday in an Israeli airstrike which targeted him in northern Gaza.

In a press statement, the news channel held the Israeli occupation accountable for targeting journalists and media teams in Gaza, urging international human rights organizations to condemn the occupation’s crimes against freedom of expression.

With Al-Zuwaidi’s murder, the toll of journalists who lost their lives at the hands of the occupying Israeli forces in Gaza since October 7 rises to 118, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Reporters Without Borders announced that the International Criminal Court intends to investigate Israeli occupation crimes against journalists in Palestinian territories, including Gaza.

It quoted the ICC Chief Prosecutor, Karim Khan, as saying that the investigation into violations in Palestinian territories would encompass crimes committed against journalists.

The organization had previously submitted two requests to the ICC regarding journalists who lost their lives in the region since October 7, 2023. It stated that there are reasonable grounds to believe that the journalists listed in their request were victims of attacks amounting to war crimes and that available evidence indicates a deliberate targeting of these journalists.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have been waging a destructive war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in 23,843 martyrs and 60,317 injuries, mostly among children and women.

The widespread destruction of infrastructure has led to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, as reported by Gaza authorities and the United Nations.
